As the Founder of CaseLight Systems, Inc., I am channeling my 24+ year federal law enforcement career and current private investigator experience into building a secure, local-first Windows workspace designed specifically for private sector investigative firms and law firms.

My federal career was centered on complex, court-ready narratives, high-stakes intelligence reporting, and rigorous evidence organization designed to withstand adversarial scrutiny in any forum. I apply this exact federal-grade rigor to the private sector through OverWatch Digital Investigations, a digital-only practice providing neutral, court-ready background and social media investigations across Washington State.

Why CaseLight Exists

After seeing what tools are available to private sector investigators, I knew I could make a change and give the industry a quality case management and evidence retention tool that is affordable and takes the workflow from chaotic to intuitive and streamlined. Legacy enterprise tools shut out independent and small practitioners with high costs, multi-seat minimums, and long contracts.

Investigators are left with a hodgepodge of word processing programs, spreadsheets, and dissociated apps that aren't meant for investigations work. Evidence loses metadata and is scattered across thumb drives, shared drives, and even worse, in the cloud, where it is subject to data breaches, cloud provider snooping, subpoenas and court challenges.

CaseLight unifies core investigative operations into a single, offline desktop application:

• Evidence Security & Encryption: Advanced, end-to-end data protection at rest and in transit, securing sensitive information and evidence repositories against unauthorized access and maintaining a strict, tamper-evident chain of custody.

• Complete case management from inception to archive with: person of interest data, timelines, associates, vehicles, addresses, criminal and civil history logging, employment history, task manager, executive summary and full narrative capability.

• File Ingestion: Seamless data import and organization. All evidence is timestamped and hashed immediately upon ingestion for an unimpeachable chain of custody.

• Island browser: the internet never touches your case or data, but an island browser allows you to do OSINT research and allows user initiated hashing and timestamp when added to the case.

• Pattern-of-Life Mapping: Synchronized timeline and relationship building. Dual timeline allows for investigation timeline and person of interest historical timeline, which can be viewed / exported individually or together.

• Programmatic Report Compilation: User-selectable and agency customizable court-ready output generation.

• Data Sovereignty: All casework is maintained on the users computer or office local area network (LAN). Set and forget backup to local external drive is included for those concerned with computer crashes or device damage.

• If for any reason a user leaves CaseLight, lifetime read-only access to prior cases is included.

Current Milestones

We are actively advancing pre-seed capital pipelines with targeted investment networks to fund our production launch.

CaseLight offers greater features than enterprise software, while also giving the user 100% data sovereignty, eliminating liability.
